There are times God has to speak to us in the language we best understand. Somewhat like a mother or father who spoke to us in that way they knew would get our attention.
Nebuchadnezzar had ruled Babylon for many years and Daniel was serving as his interpreter. Neb, as his friends called him, was a proud ruler saying as he gazed out from the roof of his royal palace, "Is not this the great Babylon I have built as the royal residence, by my mighty power and for the glory of my majesty?" (Daniel 4:30)
At that moment, although Daniel had warned him of it, Neb was turned into an insane person who ate grass like a cow. His body hair grew long, he wandered out in the rain, and his nails grew as long as the claws of a bird. He stayed this way for seven years and then his mind was returned to him.
Daniel's statement to the King was that "your kingdom will be restored to you when you acknowledge that Heaven rules." (Daniel 4:26) Neb said after his time had ended, "Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and exalt and glorify the King of heaven, because everything he does is right and all his ways are just. And those who walk in pride he is able to humble." (Daniel 4:37)Heaven does rule whether we believe it or not. We don't always understand it but God is working out His will among men on earth. Do you acknowledge this? In what way could this be better acknowledged by you?
