Upward Call - New Life Series #1

As we move through life we are called to many things. We are called to a specific job. We are called to a specific mate. We are called to a specific task that God has laid on our heart. So, what is the "upward call" of God Paul speaks about in Philippians 3:14? Paul writes not to verbally discipline the church at Philippi as he did to the Corinthians but instead to challenge them to the deeper truths in Christ. He speaks of being "found in him [Christ]." (Philippians 3:9) This was also an emphasis in Paul's book to the Ephesian church using the term or a similar term meaning "in Christ" fifteen different times. Being "in Christ" meant being immersed in him on the day we accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. It was part of the responsibility of the Holy Spirit to place us "in Christ" at that moment. Ownership

A pan of Jerusalem is used as a backdrop for news people reporting from there and you can usually see The Dome of the Rock in the background. It is a shrine with a gold dome located on the Temple Mount in the Old City of Jerusalem on Mt. Moriah. It was initially completed in 691 CE at the order of Umayyad Caliph Abd al-Malik during the Second Fitna and is sometimes referred to as the "Mosque of Omar." It is a holy site, but who really owns that area? Mount Moriah is approximately 600 feet from north to south by 300 feet from east to west and rises 2,448 feet above sea level. This is the place that Abraham was tested when he was told to take Isaac, go there and offer a sacrifice. That would have been around 2,045 B.C. Key to the passage relaying this story is the faith statement of Abraham when Isaac asked him where the sacrifice was.
