Strength

There have always been people who lift themselves above the multitudes and terrorize others. Some have done this by obtaining positions by the vote of a people who were beguiled, while others have taken their positions forcefully. David spoke of them and identified them for who they were. He called them, "enemies," "evildoers," "bloodthirsty," and "wicked traitors." (Psalm 59:1-5) David knew Who was more powerful than them. He trusted in God, the Lord, and called Him his "Strength, "Fortress, "Loving God, "Shield," "Ruler," and "Refuge." (Psalm 59:6-17) These are statements of power, care, and protection. His perspective was not a figment of his imagination but the truth. His reality was the way all men should view God. We each face people who demean us, seek to divert us from God and destroy our faith. What we need to do when this problem comes up is to repeat the same thing that David did and view God…

The Charge

(Just a word before we start. September has been a busy month for me in the business of Real Estate and also we took a long needed week off. It was great…the bronchial infection was not the highlight. I'm sorry for the many days that have passed with no Today's Word. Hope you will enjoy this one.) Do you ever look for that encouraging voice to come along side you and in a time when things are not going well just do that? Is there someone who can do that in your life? If the answer is "no," is it maybe time to identify that person and give them permission? Paul, at the end of his second writings to the Corinthians, after all his strong words to them about their bad behavior, closed with these encouraging words: "Finally, brothers, good-bye. Aim for perfection, listen to my appeal, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you."
