Presence

What kind of things do you do in your life each day to remind you of a special person? Is it a picture placed strategically, a saying on the refrigerator, or a note on the inside of the door? As the particular pieces of the Tabernacle were designed and created by men at the instruction of God, the people were given the task of bringing gold, silver and bronze to help. Further, the people were to bring "pure oil of pressed olives for the light, to keep the lamps burning continually." (Exodus 27:20) This was for the lampstand in the Holy Place which was outside the Holy of Holies where the Ark of the Covenant rested. “Aaron and his sons must keep the lamps burning in the Lord's presence all night. This is a permanent law for the people of Israel, and it must be observed from generation to generation.” (Exodus 27:21) God explained what was to happen during the night hours after the Tabernacle was erected on site. Obedience

How important is personal obedience to God? In this day of independence and self-reliance it seems to be interpreted on the basis of circumstances but to God it is very important. Consider Noah. God came to him and told him to build a boat. He explained the dimensions, decks, and openings. Why was this important? It had to sustain the force of the flood and float on top of it to save the eight persons inside who would build the new human race plus the animals that would repopulate the earth and also be available for sacrifices. It was a success because "Noah did everything exactly as God had commanded him." (Genesis 6:22) Consider Moses. God prepared him to lead the people of Israel out of Egyptian slavery. He accomplished this task and now was camped at the bottom of Mt. Sinai with over a million, maybe two million, people living in tents awaiting instructions.
