The Church

Jesus Christ's life and death were the fulcrum or balance point of God's plan to save mankind. The nation of Israel was created to validate the coming of Christ as the Messiah. From it the Son of God receives lineage, a kingdom, and prophetic authentication. Israel brings us the sacrificial system which helps us to understand the sacrifice for sin that Jesus accomplished. However, as many are the promises to Israel, for a moment it is set aside, although still holding a future place in the plan of God. Jesus Christ fulfills the Law through his life, death and resurrection. Then a new era begins called the Church age. It is a body where Jews and Gentiles are brought together into unity. "In Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love." (Galatians 5:6) "God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body…" (…

Salvation

Just two days ago we left you with the question about your own sin. The answer for all of us was the same; we cannot provide a way out. The psalmist was musing about this when he said, "They [the rich] trust in their wealth and boast of great riches. Yet they cannot redeem themselves from death by paying a ransom to God. But the truth is these people are clones of human beings who have purchased an expensive insurance policy, which is really what Lincoln and Jordan are. They are the factory of replacement parts for their human counterpart…

Sin

Here are softer words we replace for the word sin: "white lies," "half-truths," "harmless untruths," "exaggerations," "mental dishonesty," "near or partial truths," and a "slight stretch." All of these make us feel better about it, soften the seriousness of it, and create inside us no need to repent about it. God calls sin by several names. It is a willful act of disobedience. (Ephesians 2:1) A trespass which means crossing over a line that you did not know was there as you might do in walking to a pond on someone else's land and not seeing the "No Trespassing" sign. A transgression which means you are going against the written Law of God.  And iniquity which is used in the New Testament and is an unrighteous act. These sound harder, stronger, more in need of forgiveness and repentance. Humanity has a corrupted moral nature, is polluted and guilty and has neither the desire nor the ability to reform them…
